The Kings Trail

This is something every visitor should experience: The Kings Trail. This part of the Kings Trail can be accessed from the town of Miloli`i. The ancient Hawaiians made these trails with the smooth beach stones and carried them by hand from the beach to the trails. Because the lava rock was very difficult to walk on, they used the smooth stones found only at some of the beaches. These stones are large and heavy so it must have taken many  years to make all the trails which circled the island from village to village, along the coast and up into the mountains.
