Ohia Hiking Trail in Hawaii

This scenic hiking trail on the estate has large Ohia Lehua trees. Ohia trees were sacred to the ancient Hawaiians and are the first tree to grow on new lava. The beautiful bright red lehua blossoms contain honey which is a major  food source for the forest birds. Hale O Ao is a nature and bird sanctuary, where the endangered Iiwi, Apapane and Amakihi birds flourish. Their beautiful songs echo through the forest and give it a magical feel.
